Is It Worth It?
I was wandering, since i finally can afford to do something to my car. be it tune or visual change's but i want to know is it worth is to tune an automatic tibby 99' and how much are they going on... mu current milage is aroud 140.xxx.. where do they usually "die"?

auto vs. manual comes down to preference. I completely prefer manual but others might not.
As far as the motor goes I'd plan on swapping in another lower mileage motor(and getting that auto rebuilt/new one). that would be your cheapest route. Depending on how in depth your planning on going you could pickup another motor and start getting work done on it and then swap it in down the road.
edit: if all this sounds totally crazy maybe you should just find a lower mileage car.

he's right. it's not worth it. tiburons can go up to 150,000 without problems, 200,000miles with a few tweaks and replacements. probably more than that but i've never tried!
if i were you i'd buy another tiburon and use the old one as a beater. aftermarket has gotten expensive for us since everything is rare, so nothing is worth throwing money into unless you really consider your tiburon a project car and build up the entire engine professionally and turbo charge it.

i was in the same position 2 years ago, i had an automatic tib with 130k, and some money saved up.
i sold it, and bought a 5spd tib with 60k on it, best decision ever. once you learn to drive a stick, you will LOVE it. plus, they are so much peppier. you could put hundreds of dollars into tuning an automatic tib, and still get beat by a 5spd tib with a $200 intake/header combo.
try to sell it, and get a 5spd!!

It should still run good for you, but if you want to modify it and beat it up, then it's probably too old for that.
If you're broke, and just want it reliable again, then just go buy another motor and maybe a trans. The motors can be found for $250, and be swapped in less than a day.
If you want a 5 speed, then you may as well just trade in the car. It'll save you the trouble of a motor, tranny, shifter parts, not to mention suspension parts that are probably also run down.

well i know how to drive sticks since automatics are rare occasion in iceland... but buying another one wiht lower milage its very very very rare to get a Hyundai Coupe in iceland with low milage sad.gif unless its 2003 and up.. and i kinda like the rd1 look :'(.. so basiccly it aint worth it seems.. but well.. we are in kilometers and iテつエve seen few coupe's here go around 220.xxx easy but dont know if it has been fixed or not.. i recently got a new auto tranny since my old one broke down wich had like 23.xxx kilometers on it since the car had an accident and was judged ruined.. but well.. iテつエm not maybe thinking of turbo tuning.. just u know.. a bit tune tongue.gif like just to get a bit more hp on it smile.gif but weテつエll see how it goes.. :=) iテつエll post few pictures of it later smile.gif since iテつエm on graveyard shift atm. but thanks all for replying smile.gif
You might want to do the engine swap as others have stated, since you already have a new-er trans and all. Our motors look wicked easy to swap. I'm swapping a 96 Dodge Avenger V6's engine atm, and let me tell you, it sucks! Tibs on the other hand don't have half of the crap other cars do, and once you take off the dumb exhaust heat shield, and get a cold air intake, you engine bay looks like it could fit a Chevy 350 in it!
