Woo Cares...

Well im still on the korean voyage to improve the performance of my 2002 Daewoo Lanos hatchback, so far these are all the performance parts that I have: ordered, have but not yet installed, or installed

Bosal Catback
Bosal 4-1 Header
Bosal Performance Muffler
Twin Turbo-Zet
Custom CAI
Removal of Resonator
Powerband modification

I want to squeeze ever last ounce of performance I can out of this little morsel of a car. I plan on getting a 55 shot Zex wet kit in the future.

Ok, I need your suggestions for performance mods, what else can I do that im leaving out in this list? Just dont give me responses like "Get a better car...etc" And yes I know that I have a Twin Turbo Zet rolleyes.gif

Come on people, I hardly ask you for anything , just help me this one time wink

JAWS 021 Jun 14, 2002 06:33 AM

what size is your piping?

Well you already did half the exhaust,... do the other

Get a flexpipe from summitracing.com
Get a highflow CARSOUND cat
And match the piping you have (2.5 or 2.25)

If your headers are like most headers out there they will have a 42mm bore on each header and come together into a 2" pipe at the bottom. The flex pipe you use should match the header diameter (in this case 2") and match all the way to the highflow cat.

If you say have a 2" opening on the header and go to a 2.25" flex pipe and and then a 2.25" high flow cat, you will lose slight performance on the top end because of the lower air velocity in those crucial areas.

Because the flexpipe is so close to the headers and exhaust valves, it still plays are large part in the supercharger effect headers create. If the ports are matched for the header, flex pipe and high flow cat, you will get the best flow and supercharger effect from your headers.

After the cat, it doesnt really matter anyways, then you can go up to 2.5" or 2.25" or whatever you want. The cat will act to regulate the backpressure and long as the diameter on the outtake side of the cat is bigger then on the intake, the engine never really sees whats going on behind the cat anyways.

Just my experience,

-Steve
