Got the car to start by unplugging the wipers. Then when I hit the brake or turn on the lights the car dies..

You will never fix wiring problems without a multimeter. If unplugging wipers lets your car run, your wiring is well and truly jacked. Meters cost $10 from China. This thread is silly until you get one and figure out how to measure voltage and continuity.

You have very, very much learning to do. If you are unwilling or unable to do it, you will not be able to fix your car by yourself.

LOL@Faith

A voltmeter can do many things including measuring battery voltage, finding continuity in wires, or telling you if current is flowing to a specific point.

My guess, a bad voltage regulator. The car runs until you draw current away by lighting up brake lights etc. If the motor mount that was installed by welding something in place it is possible that the current from the welder fried something.
