i've noticed when i start my Tib up there seems to be a very fast clicking noise form the engine bay, cant hear it when i'm on the move but when i'm parked and the engine is left to idle i can hear it, when i push the throttle it gets faster then slows down again when i stop, i've checked oil level and thats fine. i'm not a mechanic so dont realy know what else to check.
Any clues guys. |
i was thinkin maybe a belt? idk stick your head under the hood and try to narrow the location down
|
it does seem to come from that area, but the belts look fine.
|
sometimes its not how they look but how tight they are
|
i'll check how tight they are tomorrow, how tight would you say they should be and if it's not the problem have you got any more ideas.
realy thankfull for advice. |
not sure how tight they should be. have you had them replaced or tampered with recently?
i have a tickin noise too but thats common in cars. i imagine that is all it is. if thats the case its normal and nothin to worry bout. usually if its a problem with how tight the belt is(correct me if im wrong folks) its more a squeaking noise. rather than ticking |
^^ homey I think your right. Its more of a squeal then a clicking.
sj|01- the tightness is about a 1/4 of inch of play, at the longest part of the slack in the belt. also if you could get a sound clip that could help tromendously. |
Please check your oil before you break a camshaft.
|
not changed any belts recently, did tighten my fan belt though a few months ago to stop it screaming, i know alot of cars do make a ticking noise when left to idle hence the phrase ticking over, its just that it seems to be alot more noticeble than before.
