what type of headers should i use?
now that my paint job and body work are all done, i can now begin to mod my engine. when i get my headers, what should i get, 4-1 or 4-2-1? i hear that 4-2-1 give you a small gain in the low, moderate gain in midrange, and small gain in the high revs. and i hear that a 4-1 gives you m@d gains in the high, but none or even a slight LOSS in the low. i plan to hopefully balance it all out with a throttle body for the low, possibly a 4-2-1 setup for the mid range, and then cams for the high. could somone tell me is the slight loss in the low range worth the top end gain with 4-1's? any advice would be helpful.
Hey sharkey,
Which headers really depends on whether or not you have an auto or a 5 speed.
with a 5 speed I would recomend a 4-1. You can keep the Rs high enough to fly through your gears.
in an Auto, get the 4-2-1. your gearing is such that your only controlable gains are in the middle of your Rs.
btw... where in Ohio are you from?
there are a couple of us in Toledo...

thanks man, i have a 5 speed. and i can understand how that would be a huge advantage when racing, but this is my daily driver too, so i don't want like an ugly, rough idle, or crappy low end. but a BBTB should take care of that anyway, right? Youngstown Ohio, btw. near PA
