Vibrations Still There
Alright Im here to bother you guys again. laugh.gif
About a week ago I was telling you guys about the strange vibrations I have been having with the Tibby. Well I think I found the problem but I just need to determine whats causing it.
I changed the spark plugs, which were real bad. The car ran good but then when my dad looked at the engine bay again to find the cause of the vibration, he pointed out that the idle vacuum tube was vibrating and thus causing the vibrations I have in my car. He didnt have time to figure it out so he told me to go back to the dealer. Blech. I need to know this now to figure out if its really worth going back there. So let me explain how the vibrations start:
When I start the car in the morning first minute nothing then theres a rattle noise and then the steering wheel starts to vibrate..it happens when im at idle, or standing at a stop light, basically anytime the car isnt moving. Even when the car is fully warmed up, and actually with it being fully warmed up and driven my keys tend to vibrate as well. My RPM's are normal..800-850 at warm idle and they dont seem to move at all when this happens, maybe only slightly. I was told that it can be as small at a partially blocked idle tube but im kind of clueless.
Can anyone help me out, yet again?

I have the SAME EXACT problem. I won't even bother describing it because SwifTiburon has described it just as I would.
I was told it's has to do with the fuel that is going into your engine. You can crank a knob up for more fuel to go into the engine. The reason it's shaking is because there is not enough explosions in the cylinders hence less fuel going into your engine.
Notice how when you're standing still and you put the car in neutral, give it some gas it goes away as long as you're on the pedal.
Then when you release the pedal the RPM's drop down and the car/steering wheel starts shaking again, sometimes almost acting like it's going to shut down.
It's the knob that increases the amount of gas. I forget what it's called and don't know where exactly it is, but next time I go to my mechanic to get that repaired, I will tell you. If it's not that (which, 80% of me thinks it is) the cause might be a faulty Fuel Pump.
There might be other things, but this problem sounds way too similar and precise to mine.

ZZZZ... there is nothing you can do to fix this problem. Every single car does this, brand new or used. It is more noticable in cars, however, because of the proximity of the driver to the engine and the types of motor mounts used.
Go take a test drive on anything similar to a Tib, construction-wise. New Tibs do this, new Eclipses do this, Cavaliers, etc. Its just the way sport compacts are designed. If it bothers you that much, buy a minivan where they design it to withstand the vibration.

You might want to turn up your idle a bit like mentioned, but you also might want to get your engine mounts/roll stoppers checked.
I don't think turning up the idle will help... since the problem mainly lies in that the throttle body is closed and the car is sitting still (which isn't helping the air get into the engine as if you were cruising down the street @ low RPM). The air has to take a more restrictive route.
Usually the mounts are in fairly good condition if it vibrates a little (not talking bouncing you around the inside of your car). The stiffer the mount, the more vibration is transferred. If you break/fracture a mount, it will vibrate during driving as well standing still. I've snapped a few mounts in my day, and trust me you know when it brakes. You can barely even drive the car.

Yes UltraTibby!! That's exactly what I was referring too... remembered that back from when I first bought my car and I was 17.. lol.
If it is the Mount, Now would be a good time to purchase an aftermarket Mount from Kspec lol.

Ham you didnt read her last thread about this, the vibrations that she is experiancing are VERY bad, not just the small vibrations that we all get. They get as bad as to bounce her keys up and down.
