unorthodox vs aos pulley?
I was looking around at speedstate.com and the lightened crank pulleys. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the unorthodox and the AOS pulley are, because there is only a $20 difference between the two.
Also is this something that is pretty easy to install myself?

The pulley change is a PITA, but is doable by yourself. Check out www.hmaservice.com, and you will see what you need to remove to change out the pulley.
lots of threads on that, you should really research it. But pretty mutch you would want it less if you had a turbo. It removes your harmonic dampener and puts uneeded strain on your engine. And people will go back of forth on this topic, but you'd rather spend your money on something more worthwhile that won't render your warranty void. Go for intake exhaust mods first. the pulley should you be your last mod after you don't have anything left wink Cams are cheaper and give more gains for the money wink

I would not get the pulley if I had a turbo, it is worth the money AFTER other mods to get that extra .1 sec off your ET at the track if your still N/A , above 200 whp I would recomend against the pulley, under it at the track where every 1hp helps it helps. The AOS pulley and UR are no different, with the AOS being a new alloy and not coloured ( you can't see it when installed anyway ) both work the same.

So in other words under 200WHP its OK to have the Pulley RIGHT?I would not get the pulley if I had a turbo, it is worth the money AFTER other mods to get that extra .1 sec off your ET at the track if your still N/A , above 200 whp I would recomend against the pulley, under it at the track where every 1hp helps it helps. All I ever hear are rumors and people saying "I heard that one said they are bad". There is no proof in anyones statements here. I bet NONE of you even have the pulley, much less had it for 100k miles. I talked to several people on clubsi that have had them on their cars for over 20k miles and have had NO PROBLEMS. No, it doesn't have the rubber ring in it (dampner), but it will not significantly damage your engine in any way that you'll notice in the lifetime of your engine. The racers that buy these will likely blow something else in their engine 100k miles from now than ruin your crank with the pulley.
It does shorten the life of your crank because of no dampner, but its not something to take into consideration because of how long it would take to ruin your crank. If anything, it will shorten the life from 300k miles to like 250k miles. rolleyes.gif Now, how many of you drag racers will have your cars that long? The racers that buy this product will most certainly have something else seriously wrong with the engine before this happens.
If you don't believe me, then go search on clubsi or any other forum for opinions from people WHO DO HAVE THE PULLEY. And if you want the opinion of a Tib owner who has it, ask me after 20k miles. wink
