If you and/or whoever helped with the clutch are not certain that the fork is on there right, there is a good chance it is not. It doesn't just fall together properly by accident.

Who said anything about a clip?

Look at my throwout bearing. See the things sticking out the sides at 10 and 4 o'clock? Little hollow square brackets? The clutch fork tabs MUST be in them, or your clutch will NEVER work right.

Nothing is a given when troubleshooting mechanics with a non-mechanic, you know that!

im not really mechanically inclined ive just never replaced a clutch before.

but as for the throw out bearing it was installed on the forks correctly but i did not lubricate the points.

I bought a chiltons book that stated there was a clip, then hyundai told me otherwise so i didnt know which to believe.

where do you believe this clip is?? there is a surclip on the throwout bearing itself that snaps into the pressure plate...other then that...there is none.

The clip that holds the TOB in place is on the pressure plate.

We are installing a new clutch and the TOB is being installed via the fork. We put it on the fork, pop it back to the engine and then push with the lever outside the transmission to click the TOB into the pressure plate.

Sounds simple but everytime it we've tried it's not connecting, we broke on TOB when an idiot tried to help by forcing it on. We're on our second and need to know why it's not working. We installed once already and it didn't work, when we pulled it off the fork was not on it as it was when we put the tranny back to the engine.

Please help.

(I copied my post again) I had the exact same problem!!.when Bulley upgraded my stage 3 clutch, they put a reinforcement plate over the spring fingers, prongs, whatever you call em !, about 1/8 of an inch thick, which pushed the origonal fingers (with the spring clip in the middle) of the pressure plate 1/8 of an inch!, just enough to be unable to click the arm in place properly!.I figured this out after having the same problems as you, so I laid both pressureplates old and new on a flat surface, and using a measuring tape , I measured from the flat surface to the tob clip spring (stick tape or ruler in hole), there was 1/8 of an inch diff!..I sent it back stating the problem, they agreed, and sent me a stage 4 ,no issues. ,....I had the tranny in/out least 5 times b4 I figured it out!, hope this helps!?
Ps theres a tool for the clip, but with needle nose and patience, bending a few tabs you can get it out..messed with all that crap too before I solved the problem
