I'm curious about the timing advance kit that is offered on ebay. I have a friend who ordered it for a Mitsubishi, it is actually just a resistor that connects the two wires on the mass air sensor to each other. My friend hasnt installed it on his car yet, so I have no idea what the outcome is going to be. Would this resistor really make any difference in the timing? Will it cause any damage?

If it connects to the MAF...no. it will just lower air flow readings.
if it connects to the Intake Air Temp sensor, then it just "fools" the ECU into thinking the air temp is lower than it really is.
In reality, it does not do squat to timing, it just throws off the MAF readings.

Im sorry, I was mistaken. The resistor connects to the air temp. sensor. What, if any, are the benefits of that? Whats the downsides?
Please excuse my ignorance.
