I see that no one has throttle body spacers on their mode list. Is there a reason for that or am I overlooking it? I search but came up with nothing. I can have one made cheap, maybe even free, and was wondering if it's worth it.

if you do a spacer, do an IM spacer, an IM AND a TB spacer isn't worth it, performance wise.

It's very worth it, especially if you do not want to or won't do the TB coolant bypass.

The cooler you can keep your intake charge, the better, and despite what some will tell you, it does make a difference. See the thread I posted with all of the ACTUAL measurements, instead of going by folks guessing. Also, there has been plenty of talk here and elsewhere about the positive effects of lengthening the intake after the TB for velocity reasons. I don't understand it completely though.

Oh, the last bonus to getting these is getting a good gasket made at the same size of your TB. Have a 65mm BBTB like me? Get a 65mm spacer. Have a stock TB but are planning on upgrading later? Get it in the size you are planning on buying so you can easily upgrade. I hated making a new gasket when I got my first BBTB.

The company that makes the kick ass kits is Outlaw Engineering. You CAN get the kits without the TB spacer if you contact them they say.

Hyunshark, I'm sure it was me who told you about it in the shoutbox... lol..

Anyways, I got the outlaw engineering spacers and haven't had a problem. They got me one with a bigger TB opening for my bigger TB and shipped really fast. fing02.gif

just to put this in perspective. for 100$, you get ~20degree drop in air temp at cruise, which would probably be less at WOT.

for every 36 degrees in temp drop, thats a 3.9% gain in power.

so lets say you get a 2% increase in power at WOT with these 100$ spacers.. 2% of 100whp is what... lol

you can buy them, yes, you will get a difference in temperatures, but worth 100$, not imo at all.

the only time i would pick these up, if i was serious abotu drag racing, because they prevent alot of the heat soak. but would never do a TB spacer, only a IM spacer.

Awesome input guys!! Like I said, I can have one made really cheap or even free. So it seems like it would be alright to do the mod.

I have it along with my IM spacer and like it. Just beware, you have to readjust your throttle cables (easy task, just don't forget). It's not listed separately in my mods list, just along with "Phenolic spacers" or something like that.
I'd say it's worth it. You may not notice very much, but it helps.
