I had taken the CPS out and just looked at it. Is there a test I can do on it? I can clean it and replace it if that might help. Is it something I should just run out and buy? How does it fail, I wonder?

BTW the price I see is about $85.00 or so. Is that right?

Ya they arent cheap. Go to hmaservice.com and check out testing procedures. Or maybe someone will have them here.

I may have one around though if you need one.

I checked but can't seem to find a way to test it at home. Maybe I'll ask (unless you have one!) in the classifieds?

dude have someone try to start the car and put your nose by the tail pipe and smell for gas if so then there is not a problem of you getting gas. that will rule out your fuel problem.

Hey, I can tell you 3 things you need to get any car started
1. fuel
2. fire
3. timing
seems like you have checked everything except the timing. now checking this is as simple or as complicated as getting tdc and the timing mark in position. I never checked it on a tibby but that's what's got to happen.

But would timing come and go (be way off, be right on, then be so far off it wont start at all) over two days?

I figure it's either on or off. Not on, off, on, off, way off with no intervention.

Ehh, forget about air as well.

LOL. and I dont think it would be off. You would have heard a lot of noise of valves and pistons hitting if it was off enough to not start.
