Hey i am looking for some opinions on getting rods shot peened and cryo treated, and wondering if anyone on here has done it or what they've heard about doing this.. How much power do you think the stock rods can handle and how much more power can shot peened and cryo treated rods support?

I really don't want to get some custom pauter rods, because i will have to notch the block, spend a whole lot of $$$$ on getting custom rods, when i really dont plan on running crazy numbers. im looking to MAX out at 300 whp for now, and eventually i will build a whole block and get rods, dipped, blueprinted, etc.etc.etc.

Rods usually break at the bolt. Shot-peening and cryo-treating would be good, but if I had to choose between that and upgraded rod bolts, I'd take the bolts. That's what I have.

Get a set of good ARP bolts, and you should be good to 380hp.

There was already a thread about this like 2 weeks ago. I mentioned getting bolts first, then the cryo.
I have a spare set of rods if you want to buy em. wink1.gif

how much for the rods mang? i have another set lined up but u might be cheaper...

would i need bigger bolts? or just stronger ARP bolts? can i get the part number for these and where to get em from.. sorry i missed the thread about it.

yah 380 hp would be plenty fine for me.. i still want to drive this on the streets daily without having to wrestle with it to drive normal..
