Default Which rods do you Prefer?

Crower Rods and the Pauter Rods

I'm getting mixed sayings between the two rods.

I know that they are both good. However, are there any distinct advantages over each other?

I'm turbocharging my vehicle soon and I already have the pistons. And since i'm gonna be putting pistons in, I might as well put the rods in too. smile.gif

Personally I like these:

The material and treatment specs are:

Material *SCM440
*Heat Treatment *Quenching and Tempering
*Hardness in Heat Treatment *HRC 32 to 36
*Surface Treatment *Double Shot Pining
*Bolt *Made by ARP 220,000 psi

They are made by ARP to spec of JUN.

To be use with these:

JUN Rod bolts, also by ARP.

IF you want them for Hyundai you will have to make custom order, so far have not failed in RB26DETT used for weekend racing. I'll let you know when they fail.

Crower.

They're already made for Hyundai, they're inexpensive (compared to quite a few others), they come with ARP studs or standard Crower 190,000psi studs, and you will break the stock crankshaft before you break the rod.

$675 + nominal shipping fees, pay half up front and half on delivery.

Unless you plan on making more than 350 wheel horsepower (which you will never do on your UFB Hyper-eutectic pistons) then stick with the stock rods... You only need to upgrade when you're shooting for monster power.

Well the thing is, I am trying to shoot for 350+ whp, but thats a later story. How much hp will the stock rods hold up anyways? I need to replace the pistons once I get the SDS EFI system in the summer.

So just stick with the stock rods until I get my JE pistons?

Stock rods are fine to around 350whp, given good tuning and a near-stock revlimit.
