A question about intakes
 

Today I got my Injen CAI for my 2000 Tib and had it installed. My car feels pretty much the same. Should I notice a change in performance? If so, what should I be looking for? Any info is appreciated.

I'm not familiar with Injen's setup, however, from most CAI's you should notice a slight increase in throttle response, a much better sound when you go WOT (wide-open-throttle), and also, if you drive normally, improved gas mileage smile.gif

That intake makes 7.3 hp to the wheels on a stock Tiburon years 97-01, you should feel something(honda-only makes 3.1whp) eek!

7.3 is optimal gains... you might not get all of it. The intake is a good start, but the gains will be better as you add more NA modifications. If anything, the intake should make you *feel* faster because of the aggressive sound... :D

A Cai is supossed to makle the gains getting more air into the cylinder because it's more dense aire (colder) but the injen cai sits on the lower engine bay.
Some things that could affect performance are the engine bay temp (i.E. have you removed the exhaust manifold cover --the one that has the HOT on it?)
Also, you get the most out of a CAI when your exhaust is upgraded to rememeber, the limit of air you can stuff into a cylinder is related to both air temp and the speed it travels BOTH in and out.

CAI = Cold Air Intake.

The Injen *CAI* I've seen keeps the filter inside of the engine compartment. That is not a *Cold* Air intake, but rather a Warm Air Intake. It just lowers the point the air is drawn in.

Real Cold Air Intakes: SR CAI (Production level Random Special), MHP CAI, AEM CAI...
These are all true cold air intakes. They put the filter/intake port OUTSIDE of the engine bay by cutting into the driver's side heat sheild and putting the filter in the front fender section near the driverside fog lamp.

Random's CAI was Dyno'd at +6 WHP +6 Torque.
AEM's CAI has slightly higher gains at 8+ WHP +5/+6 torque.

If an engine is first started, Injen's and the rest will probably show the same gains. However, once the car has been running for a while, the Injen 'WAI' will lose the gains the other true CAIs will keep.

Try disconnecting your battery for like a min... just so the ecu can reset itself

they call it a cold air... but it sit to close to the engine bay to be a TRUE cold air...

you can make it work though... a lot of members have that intake and are happy
