Default Project Motor is here!

Project Motor Pic #4

As you can see it is a 99% complete motor from a 1999 Elantra. There is a lot of parts off this puppy I'm going to sell to recoup costs, so check the for sale forum folks if you want some parts!

I'm a few months behind RED in getting my project motor going, but now that this thing is in my hands, it should hopefully go fast! I hope to have the motor in and running in 60 days. Wish me luck! eek.gif

Great news!

Does it have a MAP or a MAF?
Is there a list of things you're gonna do to it?

It is currently setup for a MAF system like all USA Tibbies, however, I will be converting it over to a MAP based system to work with the Haltec EK6.

The project motor stuff should be all old hat to everyone now after reading Red's posts!

Ross Forged Pistions
Crower Rods
Re-worked Cylinder head
Haltec EK6
4 440CC injectors
Upgraded axles
Shooting for 15 PSI of boost

I'm adding a few touches of my own though (come on...you KNEW I would!)
Extrude Honed Onpol Bored Intake Manifold that will be Ceramic Coated.
Heat resistant IM gasket/Spacer
Swain Coated Valves (Flow coated intake side, heat resistant combustion chamber side)
Swain Coated Pistons
Extrude Honed, Gasket Matched, Ceramic coated Turbo Manifold
Turbo rebuilt, re-ported and re-trimed
3" Exhaust, heat wrapped all the way back to the muffler.

Some of this is already in progress, the rest will go underway shortly, or when it is proper in the buildup cycle.

The block, head, intake maniflod, exhaust manifold, hell it's 99% identical in the engine bay between 99/00 elantras and 2.0 tibs.

I'm going to stick with the Alpine turbo and turbo manifold...at least for now. It is a TD04 yes.

Yes, the Elantra and Tibby use the same block, head. It will bolt right in in place of your old motor. Just a warning. Make sure you are getting the 2.0L motor rather than the 1.8L motor. There is NO WAY to tell from the outside.
