I would like to get everyones view on this.
I have 78363 miles on my 2000 tib and I need to get an oil change soon.I'm thinking of doing my self since the dealer wants over $50.00 for it.
Can I still just use regular oil 5/30 or 10/30?
Also What about those oils that are made for cars over 75,000 miles.
I have always used just the oil from the dealer where I lived before I moved from Mass to Florida and I have had no problem with the car.
You always see the adds on TV saying how the seals get warn and all that stuff.
What does everyone think?

Thanks for the info.
But wont there be a problem switching over to syn?
I here different people on line saying that it will make the engine seals leak in an older engine.
Has anyone had any problems?
Thanks.

as long as your motor has been maintained well, then don't worry about it.

FarShark 09-28-2008 12:50 PM

I use Mobil 1 5w-30 and I switched over to Synthetic at ~125k Miles (200,000km). And I don't have problems with leaky seals.
^^ Hope this helps.
