speedstate is a nice CAI, yes. Not sure EXACTLY which CAI are on the market for speedstate except weapon-R which blows ass. Remove the "black box" which is prolly the air box.

I am almost certain that that "black box" is the resonator. You will have no need for that or any of the stock air duct hose when you install a cai. I removed mine by going through the tire well. I have a 2001 Elantra and bought the AOS cai from speedstate. If you want to see it installed on my car, go to my site. My Site

Umm guys... the black box inside the drivers fenderwell on a revision A tiburon is the fuel evap canister... not something you wana fudge with unless you wana re-route fuel lines... a custom CAI such as a random special should fit... it would have to be placed farther up in the fenderwell though.

If you really wanna dig...remove the 2 screws holding in the under bumper liner, and look...
If you see THIS.....
Congrats...you have a "Revision-A"

random so willing posted this for me and i looked for it when i got my car back from the bodyshop and i saw that black box so its a "Revision-A" yepee

5.i think i read somewhere that the AOS cai will fit revision A's because the fliter just goes underneath the battery not all they way down to where that black box is .is this true? 6.and is the AOS cai anygood?

7. the black box inside the drivers fenderwell on a revision A tiburon is the fuel evap canister... not something you wana fudge with unless you wana re-route fuel lines...So there is no easy way to move this box without messing something up?

Thanks for all the help and info you guys can give me

depends on your definition of easy.. if you know what your doing you shouldn't screw anything up. From what i remember random saying... his CAI will work with the canister you mearly have to install the CAI slightly diffrent where the filter would end up more forward of the canister. Other options are the ones that place the filter at the bottom of the engine compartment. if i recall correctly that is.

The AOS is the ONLY CAI on the market that will fit the Revision A's, unless you want to relocate that canister.

As I recently found out working on another members car, those canisters come in 2 sizes. The version on my dad's 1.8L revison-a is fairly small, and you can fit a pipe between it and the metal bumper support. On the 1997 2.0L I worked on, the canister was MUCH larger, and there was NO WAY to fit a CAI pipe in there.

Relocating the canister is NOT an easy job. It will take you about 2 hours and is a PITA.

The AOS has the "straighest" air path with the fewest bends of all the CAI's, so it should perform fairly well on the dyno, and should show gains. However, the temp of the intake air once the car is moving or in bumper to bumper traffic is the question. But hell, you don't need power in bumper to bumper traffic...you're not going anywhere! LOL. The temp of the intake air once the car starts rolling is what worries me, as the hot air from the radiator is channeled down under the car...which means it goes right by/over/around the AOS air filter.

i have a really stupid idea maybe i can make some kind of plastick piping to sit right in front of the canister and when the car is going forward the cold air would flow through it and go through this piping and leed right to the fliter and have it bend up and to the left so rain or water couldn't splash right through the plastic piping peace and hit the fliter it's the frist thing that came to my head?
