My Dyno/Project

i'm a bit confused on the dyno sheet you posted. using the (torque x rpms)/5252 = horsepower equation, i can't get numbers consistent with your dyno sheet. if someone knows why, please explain, and email me if you post @ turbulence@hyundaiturbulence.net
I'm not gonna email you; if you want the answer, come read it like everyone else. But if you look at the dyno, it's perfectly fine. Take a loot at the 5252 RPM point, and notice that torque and horsepower converge. The dyno sheet looks like every other N/A dyno of a BETA I've seen, the power numbers are right in line with where it should be, and the graphs cross where they're supposed to.i'm a bit confused on the dyno sheet you posted. using the (torque x rpms)/5252 = horsepower equation, i can't get numbers consistent with your dyno sheet. if someone knows why, please explain, and email me if you post @ turbulence@hyundaiturbulence.net
If you're talking about peak torque and peak horsepower not following the mathematical formula, then you're not quite thinking straight. Horsepower and torque peaks do NOT occur at the same RPM, which means the formula doesn't work (nor should it) for peak to peak numbers.
Hey guys whats up? I dont gots a Hyundai myself but I do own an H and my friend has a 01' Tib. I wanted to know some general things about his car. He and I are having some trouble finding aftermarket support for his car. Does he have a Betta 1 or 2 engine? He has done a few simple things to his car. A little short ram intake and a Shark Racing header and custom mandrel exhaust. Still not quite as quick as my friends stock Teg GS-R although I am still very impressed for a Hyundai. I no longer underestimate the other H. I am really interested in the dyno project.

OK....well...I went and did my after dyno...and to be honest...I am very disappointed!!! I did two pulls and topped out at 128.7 max HP and 119.9 max torque. This means i lost torque and only gained about 8HP at the wheels. WHAT THE HELL WENT WRONG!!!!! The guy at the Dyno Edge says I am running way lean..and that that is my problem..he says that there is at least 15HP waiting to be unleased at the wheels if I can get my A/F right!! I guess that is a positive note. We were both looking at my A/F while my car was running and it looks like the ECU can't decided whether to run rich or lean. You'll notice in my dyno (when posted), that my first run was a 127.3 max HP, and that my second was the 128.7. that is almost 2HP difference in just 5 minutes between runs.
He also said that maybe i need to run my engine longer to let the ECU get used to the PNP'd head and more air, and then it will adjust itself. This is kinda weird, cuz on the street and racing last weekend...
seemed like there was ALOT more power there!!! I will scan my Dyno tomorrow at work and post later in the evening if someone will host it for me. Also..if anyone can maybe think of what else could be wrong PLEASE let me know. My goal is to hit around 145-150WHP N/A.
PS..RED, get a hold of me so that you can look at these numbers and we can brainstorm together..you have a PM.

Tell ya what, send me some cans of Hatch Hot Green Chilies, and I'll get you a SAFC from here for cheap. I'm dying for that stuff here, I finished the last of mine.
LOL
I know I read somewhere that resetting your ECU after some serious mods like those is a good idea. Have you tried that?

Hey cysco that is really weird that your car lost torque and didnt gain much hp. I think the resetting of the ecu would be beneficial. I would also see what kind of duty cycle your injectors are running to make sure that the stock one's are capable of the needed fuel. If they arent being overloaded or close to it then i would have the ECU reprogammed for the addtional air and fuel. The S-AFC could help but in the long run it would be more beneficial to have your ecu thinking on its own. Another thing, it seems weird in you dyno graph for the air/fuel ratio and speed that at redline your were doing like alittle below 90. That seems like it would be the end of third gear. Please correct me if I'm wrong. If this is the case then your numbers might be wrong. You would have to make a pull in 4th gear because this provides the closest to a 1:1 gear ratio. Please let me know what happens with your Tib.
Your car isn't running lean; at this altitude and with as few N/A mods as you're running, the car still is well overfueling.
Keep in mind that a brand new engine doesn't develop peak power until it's WELL broken in, and we're not talking a thousand miles. Depending on how you drive the car, it may take between 3000 and 10000 miles to get it up to peak power. Hell, it might even take longer.
Don't fret, the motor is about where it's supposed to be. Just don't be in a huge hurry to see huge power gains.
And buy an S-AFC, but don't richen it wink
