Muffler brand = signature sound?
I don't think that any muffler brand has any particularly unique exhaust sound. I keep seeing posts comparing and affirming the status of one brand over another like: "oh dude the borla has way more of a rumble but my flowmasters have that classic rasp" etc. Perhaps on something like a gencoupe, you can compare manufacturers' different systems because they produce consistent things across the same make of car.
But for everything else that doesn't have a giant aftermarket
Manufacturers have hundreds of models of mufflers
And they can be installed in such differing ways and on differing pipes
And recorded with such shitty, variable microphones
That I don't think you can really comment on brands having 'a sound'

Well, with a Flowmaster 40 series I couldn't tell the difference between my friend's Chevelle 396 big block and my 95 Blazer 4.3l on startup. They sounded identical.
