Ok so I was just driving on the interstate, and went to switch from 4th to 5th gear at about 4k rpms, as I did my clutch pedal
came back up higher than it usually does, it now sits higher then my brake pedal and also my clutch didnt engage for crap in 5th gear. SO now when I go to put the car into gear it does not engage until the pedal is almost completely at the peak of where the pedal stops coming up. Also when I give the car gas the rpms go up but the mph does not increase any if at all until I let off of the gas pedal, it kinda sounds as if I am trying to rev my engine but as im driving.... thought and opinions would be apprecieated |
RPM increase without MPH increase = slipping clutch
|
But why would the clutch start slipping if it has been fine for 900 miles its a new clutch....and a slipping clutch does not explain
my clutch pedal coming all the way up as far as it did...a bad master cylinder or slave cylinder maybe? |
did you adjust the throw on the clutch master cyl.? you need a 12mm and a 14mm to adjust the pedal stop.. i would do that.. if the master cyl is bad. it will leak oil where the push rod is at..
|
If the master cyl was leaking it would show up on the back part of the tranny casing correct?
|
if the Slave Cyl.. "the on on top of the tranny" is leaking its time to change it.. now if the master is leaking. you got to look up under the dash by the clutch and pull the Black rubber boot back and if it wet or you have a wet spot its time to change it as well.
|
Is there a way that the clutch could come all the way back out but somehow be slightly engaged still? When I increase speed
its fine until I hit about 4k rpms then it all goes to hell wont speed up fast or anything. No wet spot by the clutch pedal though... anyone? |
Edit: Weird experience ok so I went to 3 different shops and they said that the clutch was crap and I need a new one bc it has
been slipping BAD, then today all of a sudden no slipping AT ALL. Grabs like brand new even at high rpms? Any idea on how this could happen? |
