Megasquirt acting screwy
so...i got something acting f*cky with my "PNP" megasquirt.
i got it from someone here (not a KFX version) anyways, it's a MS2, when i tried to prime the fuel pump, the fan turns on  i saw the KFX version had it's own independent fuel pump relay instead of the stock relay. is this how it's supposed to be wired? the MS i have now doesnt have a relay connected. thoughts? |
Did you change the fuel pump relay to confirm that not the issue?
|
You sure your wiring is not messed up ?!

how would a bad factory fuel pump relay turn on the fan?

I should have explained myself better. Did you inspect where the OEM relay is? To see of there is a problem right there between the wiring and the relay. I do know the fan relays are in the engine bay fuse box, but I don't remember where the signal to activate it is. One other thing, did you test with an OEM ECU to see if the problem happens with it? |
PNP doesn't always mean "plug n work"!
I'd bench test your megasquirt outside the car and make sure that each pin is doing what it should. And that they correlate with the pinout in the stock harness. I know, sounds like a butt load of work!! A buddy of mine helped me do this when we made the plug and play box for my car. Honestly he did 99% of the work, LOL! But, that's what he did to make sure when it went in the car, there would be no surprises. At least minimize them the best we could. Do you have a desktop power supply you can power the megasquirt and pnp box with? And a multimeter? Should be able to get most of your answers with that. Toggle outputs in the software and verify each pin is doing what it's suppose to. If not, you get to decide to either repin the pnp box, or rewire the harness. Edit: Juanra makes a good point. Be sure everything works as it should with the OEM ecu before you do anything. Don't wanna be dealing with Gremlins on top of Gremlins!! And...Definitely don't get em wet!! LOL! |
So go check your wiring you stupid f*ck !
|
I'm not familiar with the MS2 and software but in the Haltech Elite you can go into the software and assign different wires to different functions. Maybe your Rad Fan output wire is actually assigned to the Fuel Pump function?
|
That's a way more elegant way to solve it if the MS can do that!
|
I don't believe any of the MS have that. And I believe he has a much older version.
