Intake Sensor Question
 

I Havent been able to find anything to adapt to the maf sensor that allows me to connect to a funnel type filter, so what ive done for the timing being is remove the air box and mount the filter directly to the maf sensor. My question is what are the effects of leaving the sensor from the air box disconnected? My car is running better than it ever has but would it actually run better with that sensor installed after the filter before the maf sensor or is going to hurt anything to leave that sensor unpluged?

stick the sensor back in there.... that sensor is your air temp sensor

Without that... your car does not know how much air is going in, since it calculates it in conjunction with the MAF sensor.

You can just tuck the intake air temp sensor INSIDE the air filter.

The ECU uses the readings from the IAT to calculate the density of the air flow based off the MAF reading.

In other words, it needs an accurate signal from both to provide your car with accurate fueling.

If at all possible, put a short tube between the MAF and the filter and put the IAT into a hole in the tube.

I was able to find a rubber adapter and a piece of short tubing today, im going to install the sensor into the tubing. Thanks alot for your help

Tibby01: FYI, if you want to use the OEM grommet for the sensor, drill a 3/4'' hole, it plugs in perfectly!

i have noticed that my car doesnt have an air temp sensor...in the airbox i removed it is plugged where the sensor should be...whats up with that?
