Ignition fuse problems
As I was drving today I adjusted the tilt on my steering wheel and as I did that my car died. When I pulled over to teh side to try to see what the problem was my car would not start or give me any power at all. Turns out I had a blown ignition fuse. I put a different one in there temporarily but closer to home, the same thing happened. I did this 3 times, 3 more fuses gone. About 3 months ago I got a remote start installed along with an alarm and power locks. This is the first problem Ive had like this. Im pretty sure there is a short in the wiring somewhere but I have no idea where to begin looking. Any help would be great. Thanks
well, as it happened as you adjusted the wheel.. I would look there. Chances are, if you had an aftermarket alarm put in, they either disturbed the factory wiring in the column or ran a wire from the ignition switch. There is a distinct chance that you crushed a wire in the adjusting mechanism and shorted out your ignition.
Fixed it. What happened was there was an exposed wire and when i adjusted the column the wire hit metal and shorted out. I was afraid it would cost me big but it was a simple fix
Ya I did. I highly doubt it will give me problems again. I talked to the place that installed my remote start and all that before I fixed it and they said if the wire was left exposed it was their fault and I think theyre going to give me the 3.50 back for the fuse. No harm done I guess
