Hi guys, I need a quick help if it is possible

My car drives great, but putting it in neutral, letting it idle, it starts fluctuating the revs up and down slightly. touch the pedal a little and it dissapears.

What is the most possible reason for that? How can I verify it?

In the past I had a couple of times in which pressing the gas to accelarate caused it to hasitate weirdly and jump a little.

I did search the forum, and most of the others questions included other symptoms too.

I have a 1998 RD1, MAP based.

Thanks! Sasha.

I have the same problem with my 00 tiburon, I still havent found what the problem is or how to solve it exactly, today im going to try and turn up the idle screw a little, but that is only temporary, but monday I am getting it all checked out and will keep you updated on what I find out.

Read my post in this topic dude

My idle problem was pretty much the same as yours, when adjusting the idle from the butterfly screw be very subtle because it is very sensitive. It took me around 2 hours to get it figured out and then I drove it for a few days and adjusted it again.

Do you have a check engine light? Could be a VERY sluggish O2 sensor trying to find stoiometric. Should have a check engine light though if its hunting that much. I know my O2 is quite a ways down stream and tends to hunt a little bit, but not enough to warrant fixing it, at least for the time being.

Thanks guys!

My car has no Check engine light at all. In israel tibs don't have it,,, go figure?!

Bal, Did you change you TPS? or just recconected it? i didn't get it....
So you just adjusted you idle screw?

BTW, I dosent do it all the time, and not on start up. Only after a while of driving. sometimes?

Thanks!!

Sasha, First I purchased a new sensor but then figured there was nothing wrong with the old one!!

I just reconnected the old sensor and then adjusted the idle screw on the throttle body.

I am going to order me a PCV valve too because mines is smoked...I think it will definately help the revs from dropping.
