i want headers.... but which do i want????
yea..... finally have a little dough saved up and i just have to blow it... cant help myself. well i am thinking a header would look real nice under the hood... if i could just find a good reliable header that wont blow up the first time i use it.... any help here would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to get ripped off.... these are the ones im looking at from ebay.
this one looks reliable and may work... but the O2 sensor placement may be questionable

trust em... dont trust em.... dont even have an actual pic of the product

If you are looking for looks and a low price, the third one seems the way to go. No matter which header you go with, you will probably need to relocate the second O2 sensor to behind the catalytic converter. I have heard some stories of people that have the header that has a bung in the runner and a bung in the collector working, but, I don't guarantee anything. If you want to spend a little more money, you might check out the HP.com summer sale on the Hwrang header.
hmmm.... ok.... ill look into that. Yea i remember a discussion on here about relocating the sensor... but would it really be necessary with this. I can extend the first O2 sensor to the hole in the downpipe... and then just keep using the one behind the second Catalytic... cant i
The stock setup is one before the close coupled cat, one after. That is, there is one before the cat that is attached to the manifold, one after. That cat would be replaced by the header, so you would only have one spot for an O2 sensor. Unless you have modified the stock setup, your second O2 sensor is between the first and second cat.
Have you modified your O2 sensors at all up to this point? If not, you will need to relocate your second O2 sensor. The first O2 sensor will be roughly located in the same area as the second O2 sensor is now. Trust me, I have done this and I have been reading the same situation for years.

ok.... question on this... where would i get something to lengthen the wires of the O2 sensor.... and also... im guessing this means i have to relocate the second sensor behind the second cat.. right
Correct, you must relocate the second sensor behind the second cat. I believe that the stock wire is 16 ga, so try to get some 14 ga wire, but 16 will suffice. A rule when legthening wires, use a larger ga size, or at least the same size, never go smaller. It isn't that hard to lenghten it, just remove the second O2 sensor when you install the header and get a bung welded behind the second cat at a muffler shop. Take the O2 sensor and solder wiring between the plug and O2 sensor. There should be 4 wires. Tape off the solder, or better yet, use heat shrink sleeving. Make sure that it is watertight, or you may ruin your connections, that is what happened to me the first time I extended my wires. I had to re-wire it.
haha sounds easy enough... im an electronics major at college so i think i can handle the whole wiring part. I was just curious as to if there was a kit or something i had to buy to lengthen it.......... dont want to screw anything up.... could be more costly in the future... thanks drafter
I never had to lengthen the wire for my second O2 sensor when I installed my header. What I did was instead of haveing a flex pipe that connects the header to the exhaust I used a ball flex joint with is a lot shorter and was able to hook up the O2 sensor right after that and it fit just perfect without lengthening anything. I have some pic's of my set up that I could get if you would like to see how I did it.
I went ahead and started a new topic for this and added some pics.
