Do all airhorns have to have a compressor or do they make electric ones that you can connect to the stock wiring? I want one that's simple to hook up and can be hooked up to a button. So the stock horns for normal useage and the air horns for when some a-hole cuts me off on the roads.

 

It is most likely illegal to blast those. There's a reason why they're called airhorns. Only the good ones worth a damn require compressed air.

 

You can get a kit with a little baby compressor and a horn or two for not too much money. They're also not nearly as loud as the huge horns on trucks and trains with gallons of stored air behind them. Go to the auto parts store and buy a couple of different horns with the highest dB rating, and get a relay and inline fuse, and tap the wire to the regular horn to trip the relay. It'd be about as loud as cheapo air horns, but all electric with no start-up delay.

 

I've seen the Chrome Hawk Electric Train Horn before. It uses no compressor. Try to Google it.

 

install a air suspension system then hook up a air horn to the tank...............

 

The straight-from-motor air horns are quiet, but do sound better than the OEM 'meep' style horns. But if you don't have a big tank, prepare to be disappointed.

 

I googled it. Chrome hawk systems I saw have a small cylinder with the horns. The cylinder is a compressor. The lag/delay is small but noticeable compared to an electric horn, if it's like the system I used to have on my car.
