OdessitPashka 08-25-2005 02:06 AM

did you try to start the car again?

Dmitry 08-25-2005 02:56 AM

to ensure there is no water inside the engine you can turn out all spark plugs ant crank few times the engine. Then put plugs back and try to start the engine.

KCVoRTeX 08-25-2005 07:05 AM

no the engine wouldn't turn over.... turn out the spark plugs? you mean pull them out?

Sparticus 08-25-2005 09:13 AM

^^ yes thats probably what he means.

01tibby 08-25-2005 10:00 AM

1. take out all spark plugs.

2. get something to suck out any water, or crank engine just a couple times and watch water shoot out of sparkplug holes.

3. change oil

CyberShark 08-25-2005 01:01 PM

^do exactly like Tibby says, try to get ahold of a shop vac to get the water out. If you don't have one, you can probably get one for cheap at WalMart and then return it when your done.

brian01tib 08-25-2005 04:58 PM

if you ever go through lots of water always have your hand on the key and ready to kill it, when my revs went down a little i shut the engine off and it saved me from hydrolocking

SpeedRacer 08-25-2005 07:28 PM

Unfortunately if you tried cranking it after sucking in all the water, the damage is already done (if there is damage). At this point just follow the above advice and cross your fingers. happysad.gif

CyberShark 08-25-2005 09:20 PM

Unfortunately, there's a good chance that your engine is waisted. I'd call your insurance company ASAP if it covers this type of damage.

Dmitry 08-26-2005 01:41 AM

^^^
I don't think insurance company would cover damage that was cased by aftermarket parts such as CAI. Cause with stock airbox there will not be a chance to hydrolock.
But who knows...

Check also if there is spots in the engine oil.

So any updates?

KCVoRTeX 08-26-2005 06:52 AM

That's why you remove the CAI and replace it with the stock intake. You might want to throw some muddy water under the hood to make it look good. I'm telling you from experince as it worked for me years back wink1.gif

Geez man, good luck with everything, let us know how it goes.

KCVoRTeX 08-29-2005 01:44 PM

Dmitry 08-29-2005 02:13 PM

I'm guessing the $450 is the cost of you insurance deductable?

KCVoRTeX 08-30-2005 07:00 PM

amazingly no damage... they just had to flush the oil a couple of times and it's prefectly fine.... the mechanic was shocked as hell. He said that normally when any water gets into the engine like that your engine is toast... he even wrote down that it was very unusual. They also replaced my exhaust manifold (recall work) so it actually sounds like its running better then before. I guess I got lucky... only time will tell
