header installation question

Default header installation question

im installing my own 1 piece 4-2-1 headers... now my ? is how do i go about getting em in the engine bay... can i drop em in from on top or do i have to go from the bottom up....

does it matter?
if it doesnt work one way try the other and you'll only be out of 30 seconds.

Easiest would be top to bottom

no the thing is i dunno how i coulod jack my car up enough to go from the bottom up.... im doing this @ home... i have a kit... so i cant use ramps....

oh and BTW im gonna be driving 2 miles on a open header.... with only the 1st o2 sensor hooked up... that shouldnt **** anything up will it? its gonna save me 125 bux

It'll be loud as an MF and the check engine light will prolly come on. Can't see how it would cause any problems, seeing as how you're only going to drive two miles like that...

That's what I'm going to have to do to mine. Just make sure you secure the 2nd o2 sensor fairly well before drive off. Don't want it hitting the ground before you get there. smile.gif

hmmm... do it in the yard and dig a hole in the ground to work out of if you cant get it in without jacking it up.

you will probably have to disconnect a bunch of stuff like the alternator pulley, and radiator fans...to make more room to work it in there...then you put them on from below. Thats how I got mine in. Then I drove it up the street open, and had no problems.

You'll probably have to take the power steering pump off to ge tto the bolts...
