So Bullfrog had some question about my catch can setup.

I ended up taking a bunch of pictures so I figured I'd make it a thread.

I didn't put this is the DIY section because their are a couple there already.

Items needed -

- Ebay oil catch can --- $20 shipped

- Air/Water separator and 2 threaded brass hose ends --- $12 at Home Depot

- About 5 feet of 3/8 inch tubing --- $10 at AutoZone

- A bunch of hose clamps --- $3 at Wal-Mart

- Varieous brackets found in the door section at Home Depot --- $6 at Home Depot

- Various nuts and bolts --- $2 at Home Depot

- Zip Ties --- $2 at Wal-Mart

- 3/16 Aluminum tubing --- $2.50 at Hobby Lobby

- Sink facet screen --- $0.50 at Home Depot

- Electrical tape --- $1 at Wal-Mart

- Simple tools (Screwdrivers and Ratchet set)

The Ebay Catch Can

The Air/Water Separator and brass fittings

Door brakcets for mounting catch can. I didn't have an extra for one of them but you get the idea lmao.gif

3/16 Aluminum tubing

First to modify the catch can a little bit.

1. Remove the 2 nozzles from the top of the oil catch can.

2. Cut off a 5 inch (13 cm) length of the aluminum tubing.

3. Hammer the piece of aluminum tubing into the inside hole on one of the nozzles.

4. Wrap the sink facet screen around the other end of the aluminum tubing and attach it with the electrical tape.

It should look like this when your done.

The idea is that when the vapors go through, they will kinda condense on the screen and drip into the can.

When you put it on your car you will want it to flow like this.

Now to mount the catch can and air/water separator.

To mount the air/water separator I used the (car orientation?) sensor that must be remounted when you install a front strut bar.

I simply put a bolt through the unused hole, tightened it on with a nut, then put two rectangular nuts on the bottom and tightened them into each other.

It leaves a space in the middle of the bolt that will hold a zip tie securely.

Then you just attach the air/water separator with a zip tie.

It should look like this.

Now to mount the oil catch can.

Assemble the bracket like this. (The part that the oil catch can goes on should be curved. You can see it in the pictures of the catch can and pieces it comes with).

Heres where I mounted the bracket on the Intake Manifold.

Heres what the whole assembly looks like mounted on my car.

Ok, now to hook the lines up.

I played around with a bunch of configurations that all made my car run like crap before I found the right one.

You basically just want to make the lines longer(and put the catch cans in the lines), without changing the configuration of the lines.

I looked though about 5,000,000,000 threads about this before I installed my catch cans, and the only ones that helped at all where the threads with pictures.

So instead of writing 5 paragraphs, I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

As you can see, I didn't change where the lines go.

I only changed the length of the lines, and put the catch cans in the lines before they reach their destination.

Here are a couple more pics just in case I missed anything.

Heres the link to my photobucket account.

I know this was overkill but I hope I answerer all you questions bullfrog fing02.gif

Wow, I was just previewing this before I posted it. This thread being clear and easy to understand = FTL

Just ignore my crappy writing skillz and use the pics. It'll be easier that way tongue.gif

wow cool oil cap, where did you get that? lol

Looks great man, one thought though, wont the electrical tape fall of the aluminum tubing in the event that the assembly becomes covered in oil? maybe it wont, just a thought

lose the blue loom winston or be prepared to get hella flamed, just a forewarning. fing02.gif

would look better if you try to hide the hoses. just trying to give you some constructive criticism. less is more in my book.

I was hella bored lmao.gif

I thought the cans were supposed to be higher than the valves to work properly?

Also, I'm very surprised at how much oil the air/water separator has caught. It's only been on there for about 400-500 miles.
