Default Exaust Question

Can someone explain why you have to have bend in your exaust? Can't you just have a straight pipe right from the catylic convertor? If someone can explain this to me I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I am guessing this but having a "straight" pipe is ideal but almost impractical as the pipe has to "find it's way" to the back of the car; at least on my car it's impossible to have a straight pipe.

diambos right,... less bends allow better air flow

Too bad hyundai isnt a big fan of straight pipes (remembers seeing the 2003 tibby dual exhaust) rolleyes.gif frown
