Engine Vibrations- UPDATE fixed!

Here's my problem. My Under-strut bar was ratteling aginst my header, after installing my SR 401 header it was worse. I've pertty much have it under controll by putting wedgeing it. It much better now.

BUT, I've noticed that abound 3000 RPM's (2800-3200) I notice my car/engine vibrates. I can feel it,slightly hear it and my side and rear view mirrors vibrate to the extent that the view is greatly blured.

Why is this? What can I do? Should I be worred? Could this have something to do with running too rich/lean?

It's very much a pain. I try to avoid drivein in the RPM range, but not always possible.

Hmm, try removing your "under-strut bar" and see if the problem presists. It sounds like to your "feeling" your engines vibrations through the bar from the header. I had something similar except it was from my crooked exhaust up against my car. I felt the same harshness around 3000rpms. I think our engines resonate with our chassis there. Everything has a resonant frequency and it's being transmitted to your chassis. You don't normally feel this becuase your motor/tranny mounts absorb them as well as your harmonic dampner and your flywheel smooth things out too. Just my theory though...

I'm going to try a few things and see if anything helps.

Well, when I put on my header the "clamp" that latched the pile to the car was not bolted back on. I used a couple of metal stapes and tighten it to the car, and low and behold it gone. car runs great now!

Does it at times sound like it's coming from the back? Like around the exhaust tip???

I've had this problem around 2500RPMs from about 6 months after I had my tib, took it the the dealership a couple times for them to fix it and they never did really, they told me they "adjusted" my exhaust hangers, but it vibrates sometimes at idle too, they won't fix it now because they say I have modified my exhaust, because I took off my heatshield once and now it's missing a bolt rolleyes.gif

I mean come on, that's pretty sad if you call that a modification (missing bolt)

And not to hi-jack the post, but could my problem be because of the heatshield rattling and is the heat shield really necessary?

What "clamp"? The clamp from what to what?
Latched the pile to the car? Pile of what? Bolted a pile to the car?
Metal staples? You stapled the block????

I think he typed "pile" instead of "pipe".

there is that support that comes off the block and under theb lock that u use a clamp 2 clame the exhaust pipe 2..

My car vibrates also. I don't know to what extent would you consider it anoying, but you can't expect to do stuff to the engine and have it runnig stock like. Now if you have something rubbing, then yea, you need to get that checked out.
