Ok i'm not sure how to explain this but i'm gonna try. Ocassionally right after i take off (driving easy) the car will do a nose dive like it want's to die. Sometimes it does it in first gear and sometimes in second gear. It doesn't feel like a miss fire. I usually slam on the clutch real quick and re-engage the clutch and it will take off normal again. If you don't hit the clutch it'll like hesistate and then squeal the tires. If anybodies had a problem like this or just has an idea, i'd appeciate the help.

do you have any CEL?
what mods do you have? |
Yeah but it for a o2 sensor malfunction (stupid o2 simulator), taken care of that tomorrow. The only mods i have are CAI and header back exhaust. So i'm clueless.
I have PSSSS sound from the air-filter, especially when I hit WOT from idle. Maybe you hear your CAI?
No it's like a major hesistation or something. I dunno, it's weird.
on empy fuel tank that can happen, cause fuel pump can't take enough fuel.
also it can be first symptoms of the fuel pump going bad 02.gif when did you change fuel filter and clean your air filter? |
I changed my air filter about 5000mi. ago and my fuel filter about 3000mi ago. Low fuel would make sense but at the time i had around 1/4 of a tank. I hope it's not my fuel pump i don't have the money for that.
try feeling your tank up at least to 1/2
Stupid question maybe, but are you driving the clutch properly? You say it happens when you take off easy.... maybe your letting off the clutch too fast and\or taking off at the wrong RPM?
No i've been driving a standard since i was 14 but that's the same thing the dealership said.
I'd say check your Throttle posistion Sensor. I had a bad hesitation problem in my 1986 Nissan Pickup and it turned out to be that sensor. Are you sure it's a clutch thing??? Drive your car and see if your car hesitates at differing positions of the throttle. My truck only hesitated at about 1/8 - 1/4 throttle. it wouldn't do it when I floored it, and it was most noticable when I let off the gas slowly from about 1/3 throttle to no throttle. From there, I knew it had something to do with the throttle. Cables looked good and tight, the only other thing it could have been was the TPS. Sure enough it was.
ALSO... when was the last time you had a tune up?? It may be as easy as replacing the wires and plugs. smile.gif |
my wires and plugs are only like 5000 old so i don't think that's the problem. I was planning on getting some electrical connector cleaner and cleaning some of my connectors to see if that would help. I read on a topic that it help get rid of somebodies vibrations at idle: I have that problem too. So i figure it's worth a shot.
its also worth your time to pull the plugs out at look em over as well as inspect your cables...... usually this is it...
I've checked both plugs and wires and they both look fine. What is a good electrical connector cleaner?
