What is the differences between performance mufler and cat-back mufler?

 

Performance muffler is just a muffler that should sound nice and just a muffler assembly that will either replace your stock muffler or will be an addition. Catback is a full replacement of the piping that goes back from your cat to the muffler, catback includes a muffler as well.

 

if you get a catback you typically get larger diameter piping and its usually mandrel bent

if you just get a performance muffler you still have the small piping going into the muffler so you wont see much performance

 

Yep, changing the muffler by itself won't do much for you other then changing the sound and maybe dropping a couple of pounds by getting rid of the bulky stock muffler. A catback will do alot more for you.
