custom exhaust question?
 

If I have the second cat(look like a cat)undet the car taken out, will the car(01 Tib) still pass the emission? Someone in the board said that the second cat is just a resonator. Is there any truth to this. Red or Random?

Also, will the CEL come on, if 2nd cat is remov? Is there any effect on the motor(bad effects)? Thanks in advance for the help.

yes... what your seeing is a resinator. no it wont hurt it if you remove it, it will help. thats got a 1.5 inch diameter throughput... definately remove it. no, your CEL will not come on. this has been hit lots of times on the forum. might think about doing a search if youve still got a question wink

If your car has the "california emissions package" you have 2 cats. If your car does not have that package, it is just another resonator.

How will I know if I have the Cali Package? Is it in the manual or any sticker in the car? Is it really loud when you take out the resonator? I live in Illinois so I don't know if I have the package. I had a muffler shop look at it this afternoon, and it is a functioning cat. It had some catalyst and mesh type inside. What do you guys make of it?

He wants 100 bux to take it out and make a flange to replace the gap. Is that too much? Did you guys had to pay them to take your cat out?
