Default ClutchNet Stage III Clutch & Fidanza Flywheel.

This week my car will be going into the shop to have a ClutchNet Stage III Clutch and Fidanza Flywheel (that I bought from Mike Fidanza at SEMA 2002, hehe) installed by "the man" himself HyundaiFixer. tongue.gif

Come to find out, after I moved to the Long Beach area, AJ (Fixer) works at the Cerritos Hyundai... where I took my car in to have some gear grinding issues checked out. I knew he had transfered somewhere else, but I failed to realise that he was at this particular dealership.

Yeah, I know I can change the Clutch and stuff myself... which I would.. >IF< I had the time and the equipment. I don't have the equipment to perform such an operation, and having AJ doing the work reassures me it will be done right.

So once all is done, I'll let you guys know how 'touchy' the thing is, or how well it puts up to my constant abuse.

DAMNIT.
They sent me the wrong clutch... It looks right, but the center is thicker than the normal one. AJ tried to put it on, but it dun fit. grr. Anyone know if the Beta II's Tranny is different than the Beta I?

I'm guessing they gave me a Beta II's Clutch. And so now I'm without a car for the weekend... cause AJ found this out at 6pm PST... and Clutchnet is closed... Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.... *pulls hair out*

Email sent to them... Jaws, if you have a contact, please hit me up man.

^^ I'm fairly sure Beta II trannies bolt-up, but the clutch/flywheel assemblies are different.

Well, it looks like I did get the right part.. but it's weird, because the Clutch cover doesn't seem to fit quite right. The tines (the things that push against the clutch) seem to be at too much of an angle, so AJ was thinking that once he tries and put them all in, it's going to reduce greatly the amount the clutch can move out, so I wouldn't be able to disengage the clutch.

I took the clutch along with my stock one over to clutchnet and they said it was fine... So AJ is installing it now. We'll see how it goes.

Did any of you that installed this clutch experiece that the Clutch cover had greater than a 1/4 inch gap between it and the flywheel? Mine is about 1/2 inch which is longer than the metal dowels on the flywheel. Unfortunately I don't have a camera so I can't post any pictures.

So... the clutch is in. *grin* Gawd what a difference. The Fidanza worked also. So it's all installed, rip roaring..... and I've already stalled it... just once. tongue.gif

Gawd, it catches so hard.... I've gotta relearn how to drive. AJ was warning me that he felt that a Stage III was a little too agressive for my application, but I didn't listen. I like it. smile.gif

Things seem pretty good right now. But I only drove around for about 30 minutes. I'll see what it's like in traffic tomorrow.. lol (wish me luck -_-wink1.gif

Now to fix the grinding from first to second gear... I think the syncros are messed up.

I already told AJ about it. He thinks it's the synchros also. So he'll probably pull the tranny again.. -_-;

I got mine for $300.00 out the door price. (Normally $330, but since I live in So.Cal they gave me a little discount.) The one thing I didn't realise when I ordered it, it doesn't come with a throw out bearing.

If you don't have a lightened flywheel and all that stuff, the VHR setup would be a pretty good deal. You might even be able to talk Rick from Real-Engineering into extending the VHR Clutch, flywheel, throw-out bearing setup for $670.

Well... since my car ALWAYS has to have more issues with it. Got a CEL this morning on the way into work... more than likely from a missfire. Its about time I replaced the spark plug wires and plugs anyways. And I need new brakes. Stupid cars... once something goes wrong, then suddenly a ton of things need to be serviced.
