hey guys here's my problem
i changed my clutch yesterday and now i'm having some wierd issues with tranny
when i try to get it in a 1st gear i have to wait couple seconds , then when it's in, it grinds every gear except 4th and 5th if i shift more then 2500 rpms , i dunno what happend with it but it wasn't like that with old clutch..
And when car is not started it shifts normally..
i have a feeling that i put clutch disc opposite way .

1. what car do when clutch disc is opposite way?? (like is it drivable??)
and can someone tell me towards what this side of disc have to go?? flywheel or pressure plate???

Bump for Dimon. Sorry I couldnt help via IM dude. Youll get it straightened out.

Couple things to add:
Clutch line was properly bled
Disc, PP, and TOB was replaced

cmon guys bump with any info cause tomorrow in the morning i'm gonna tear the tranny apart again ;(

You may have installed it backwards, before you set your car down from its jacks, or even start it, you should always test the functionability of your work.

with the car on jackstands, engine off, and everything assembled, you should put the car in first gear clutch engaged (foot off pedal), have somebody hold one tire while you try to spin the other. It shouldnt move, if it does, the engine isnt attached to tranny.

Now press the clutch pedal, with the friend holding the tire again try to move the other tire, your tire should spin freely, if not, you didnt do it right.

You most likely installed it backwards or did not fully seat the TOB and the pp isnt being pulled out fully. Either way, your relying on your syncros to shift right now so if you continue to drive you will ruin your tranny.

what way did you install the clutch?

did you install the disk with the hub side (side that sticks up from disk about 3/4" that has springs on it) towards flywheel or towards PP.

sorry for the rough sketch, but just so its easier to visualize.

does it look like A or B, the way you installed.

Which was is the correct way socks?

also check to see if the disk tabs are warped as well.. that will do it as well..

i did it like on picture A

Its most likely a pedal adjustment issue.

If the clutch disc is back to front, the clutch pedal doesnt operate properly. It also eats at the flywheel bolts.
Thats really obvious when you do up the PP bolts, the PP fingers bend out like its disengaging but really the clutch disc hub is pushing on the flywheel bolts.


If its hard to get into gear, try adjusting the rod at the top (firewall) of the clutch pedal turn the rod anti-clockwise when facing it from the drivers seat.
May need to adjust the clevis free play at the front of the pedal if there isnt enough adjustment.
Or alternativly read the shop manual/hmaservice for adjustment procedure.
