Clutch Moaning(lol)

All right I put a Stage 2 clutch in my 01 Tib last year and I've had this problem for a while now, whenever I take off in first gear, I hear this kind of like a whistle/moaning sound coming from the tranny/clutch, I also hear it when I downshift into any gear, I had no problems with the OEM clutch doing this besides that it was fried. So does anyone know what this sound could be? I've taken it to my dealer twice for this problem and they couldnt redo the sound, I am going to take it back there and drive it with the tech in the car and then let them hear it, but it just pisses me off that I keep hearing this damn sound. Please help. Thanks.

^^ Most aftermarket Hi-Stage clutches do this. Why, I don't know. My Corvette clutch is beast as hell and doesn't do it. GSX has a Clutchmasters Stage III and it does that. There is nothing wrong with the clutch, mine has withstood plenty of abuse, if it had a problem it would've been long since dead with the way I abuse it.

Maybe you should switch your TB clutch with your girlfriends eyeroll.gif

Okay, so lets just say some do that, what makes them do it though, is it just that you got a bad deal, or does everyone of that manufactured clutch do that??

2K1tib, what type of clutch did u get?

Blu_Drgn 03-11-2005 03:02 AM

I have a heavy duty clutch in my ranger and it does the same thing and it has a stock heavy duty clutch. Sounds like someones humming really loudly while on the tranny.

When you had the clutch installed did you have the FW resurfaced or did you replace it with an aftermarket one?

2K1TIB 03-11-2005 08:15 AM

I know I didnt replace FW with an aftermarket one. So maybe the FW was resurfaced don't really know though. Is that a problem if it wasn't?

UltraTibby 03-11-2005 08:24 AM

Well yes and no. It all matters who you ask. 90% of the people out there will say you SHOULD get it atleast resurfaced. That way the new clutch is not attempting to grap on a pre worn surface. If the old clutch had created an uneven area in the FW and it wasnt resurfaced then it could definately cause the type of sound you are talking about during shifts.
