Clutch Grabs Late

my friend drove my car today and was amazed that my clutch grapped so far from the floor. i told him its always been that way. is that normal or is it old and worn down?

Yeah, thats completely normal. Its supposed to grab at the top. If his doesn't, its probably not adjusted properly, which if it isn't, shortens clutch life.

You might also being looking at two different makes of car (you didn't specify what your friend's car is) so it is like comparing apples to oranges.

Mine has always been that way, when I first bought the car I was used to my Mustang grabbing 2 inches off the floor, my tib always seems to grab like 2 inches from the top with both the OEM and aftermarket performance clutches.

My dad was amazed of how the clutch grabbed as well, thought something was wrong with the pedal...

oh ok, just checking, his clutch was like that then he got a new one and was near the floor. i guess they just didnt properly adjust his. thanks for the response guys

Yeah, just tell him to look in his manual to see how to adjust the clutch. Only takes a few minutes. wink1.gif

As the clutch gets worn down, it has a tendency to catch further and further towards the floor, which increases wear. Which is why you adjust it.
