Just a fun fact: Betas had the Crankshaft Position Sensors(CKP) bolted in at different angles.

My 98 rd1 2.0L Auto:

Socks 01 rd2 2.0L 5spd:

Edit--> I just looked and my 98 5spd 2.0L bolts to the right as well.

The sensors are the same... However because one crank is smaller than the other, the CKP is mounted in a different position so that the 2 missing teeth on the 60-2 wheel are the same amount of teeth away from TDC.

Why would the crank be different sizes on 2 2.0 beta I engines?

I'm not saying the sensors are different. Just noting that it is odd to have the exact same engine have 2 different orientations for a sensor in the block.

I just noticed that thread said that the 1.8L engine has the same orientation as mine. I assure you both my 1998 tiburons are 2.0L engines. The stamp on both those pics I posted show J2 2.0.

this isn't related to the size of the crank shaft or the trigguer wheel
(trigger wheels all have the same diameter)
it's something related to the date of manufacturing

older with larger crank pilot vs newer with small crank pilot

LOL no ones arguing about anything..........

its just pretty odd that they would even bother to change the rotation of the sensor... would have to go thru a different set of revisions on the design side, its just odd. its not like they added or subtracted anything (that i can see) just rotated where the bolt is.
