Car Stalls W/ Clutch In
When I am in traffic (stop and go), I keep having to engage/ disengage clutch. Every once in a while the revs will plumit, and the engine dies. I also noticed it did it the other morning at about 40 mph when I pushed the clutch in to downshift. it has 59k miles on it, just changed the timing belt a month ago, 5 spd, no mods, fresh gas. Please help.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Fuel filter shouldn't cause it to die at idle.
It sounds like your TPS is gone bad, or your Throttle body needs to be adjusted open a tad more. The idle air bypass SHOULD catch the engine rpm and prevent it dying, but it can't do it's job if the other parts aren't doing their job.
Get a long shaft small bit Phillips screwdriver. Find the throttle body adjuster screw (drivers side, bottom corner of the TB) and turn that 1-2 turns to the right (should open the tb a tad).
If that doesn't solve your problem, and you've got no Check Engine Light, the problem is more than likely the Throttle position sensor.

I was able to clean my TPS with carburetor cleaner. Remove the TPS, spray the cleaner in there and rotate the white piece, continue as necessary, let it dry out and reinstall it.
I just had the TPS replaced, it was causing an awful sputter, it has about 2 months on it. I havn't replaced the fuel filter yet, but will look into it. My main concern is if it is a little problem that will grow into a larger break my wallet kind of problem. When it does stall it fires back up without hesitation so it's mainly right now just annoying.

I'd have your ECU scanned to see if everything is normal. Also, just for giggles, check your MAF and make sure it's oriented correctly.
Run some Fuel Injector cleaner thru it since you bought it?
Do you do regular maintenance?

Possibly, I had my clutch replaced, about 2 months ago. It did stall once before that. Is there a diagram, online anywhere, of where the clutch switch is? And also In reply to Redz, where would a good place to go to get my ecu scanned aside from the dealer? Does anyone think it could possibly be a vacuum leak? I was going to check that out tomorrow morning. I also do maintain it to the best of my knowledge; oil, filters, belts, coolant & fluids, and tire balancing that never seem to balanced, but another time, another topic.
Thank you very much for your input guys.
