Default Calling Chuek.

Hey, Since you see first hand on the modifications of these engines. Have you seen the 2.4L engine moded. If so, is it anything like the V6, where it can only handle up to a point before it go boom?

I am very interested in getting a Sante Fe and doing some mods on it. Just wanted to know which motor I might be able to get the most from.

Same reason the 2.4L isn't sold. They chose not to. As to WHY they chose not to...who knows. Auto companies do STRANGE things.

I believe it has to do with engine displacement taxes. Yes, unlike you boys in the states, cars get added taxes for engine size.

The limits are 800cc or less, 1500 cc or less, 2000 cc or less and greater than 2000 cc. So, why build a 1.6? just make it 2000 cc and why stop at 2.4?

in EUROPE 1.6 beta (G4GR 85kw) engine in 2k3
and last 2k01 models was replaced with 1.6 alpha (G4ED 79kw) to meet EURO 3 emission requirements.

don't know why 1.6 beta used during 96-01 (five years) in coupe and elantra was unable to meet emissions.

now 2.0 beta is G4GC.

Random,

No Alpha 1.6L in Korea either. Just SOHC and DOHC 1.5 Alphas.

Hey Cheuk... Have you seen a car with a 1.6 Beta? Or a rogue 1.6 Beta?

So where is the 1.6 Alpha, Beta and the 2.4 "???" made?

I assume that all the Hyundai engines are still made in Korea. The 1.6 Alpha is very similar to the 1.5 alpha and the 2.4 L, I think is based on an older 2.4 L that used to be sold in Korea.

I have never seen a 1.6 Beta.
