Default CAI and MAF Sensor housing

When installing your CAI have any of you removed the grid at the openening of the MAF? Does it really improve flow? or is it an unnessasary step?

Do NOT remove that. In order for the MAF to read the air flow accurately, it needs to read "straight" air. Basically, the air needs to flow evenly through the MAF so that the small portion is reads is really an accurate representation of air flow through the tube.

if you cut that grill, turbulent/swirling air can flow through the MAF. This causes the MAF to sometimes read high, sometimes low as turbulent air flows over the MAF element or under it.

Both RED and I originally cut those grills off our MAF's. Both of us have replaced the "cut" MAF's with MAFS that have the grill.
