hey i recently found that i had an oil leak at my oil pan gasket. so rather then just put the stocker back on i'm going to upgrade to a beta2 oil pan that is aluminum.
what exactally are the pros/cons of this swap?
i've heard the beta2 pan holds more oil/sturdier but is that it?
why would i want my engine to hold any more oil if i'm not turboed?
is this swap a straight bolt on or are there mods that need to be done?
i've heard of people doing this swap but i'm just a little confused on why. i dont want to just stick it on the car just to say that i've got a beta2 pan. but being aluminum ilo our cast one has to be an adavantage of some sort.

yup get some RTV
either permatex gray one or permatex "right stuff" those are the best easy to find RTV on the market
aluminium does help cooling oil a bit,it's doesn't contain more oil,you will need the beta2 oil pan bolt (4 of them are extra long) and be sure to remove the little dowel pins form the oil pan if they are there
(beta1 block don't have the holes for them)
you are alrady using thebeta2 trans,so you won't have to grind some clearance for the 2 rear bolts
you might have to dimple the crossmemeber to make clearance for the rear oil pan bolt (heat and hammer)

thanx denisst i appriciate the tips. do you know what sort of bolt i will need? i'm sure its probably a m12 bolt but i have no clue on the curl or the length specs.
how the hell did you just buy an oil pan gasket.. if you did.. then your system at work blows.. lol none of the betas have oil pan gaskets just the shitty ole rtv.. i hate using that stuff. never seems to get the right seal like a gasket..
why couldn't hyunda have just used gaskets, so much cleaner and easier.. stupid hyundai.

actually you have less leaks wit ha good rtv job
for the oil pan bolt i don't have the lenghts on hand, but you will need 2 extra long m6 x 1.0 bolts
2 a little bit shorter m6 x 1.0 bolts and about 16 short m6 x 1.0 bolts
(m6 bolts have the 10mm heads)
