BBTB Problems

Hey this is more of a Question directed at COl .. But anyone is free to help. I reinstalled the "oz-flow" BBTB 3 days ago, afterwards the throttle would stick. So i removed it and realigned the white spool with the part the throttle cable hooks to. Now i reinstalled everything, whenever i hit the gas it revs and continues to climb even though my foots not on the peddle.

NOw so i was like hmmmm.. So i started the car and let it idle. The car idled around 2500 ~ then drops down too 1800 then back to 2500... all the time the throttle cable never moved.

So i'm thinking the problem is the TPS. So i tighten it again, still no luck. Anything anyone can think of?

Yeah i restarted the ECU a bunch of times ..

Thanks guys ..

There is a nut on the TB that adjusts the idle. Loosen that nut (with the car off) adjust the idle and then turn the car on. Then redo the above step until it is idleing correctly. This could also be why your rpms are going straight up.

Okay .. that could be the rough idle problem... But what about the overreving?

UltraTibby Mar 16, 2005 08:45 AM

Well I am not sure how they both come to affect each other but I had this exact same problem unitl I adjusted both the cable and the nut. If the cable has need screwed down differently (with the nut on the cable NOT the nut on the TB) then it can cause the rev to stick. Hope that makes sence.

Did you use a new gasket, it kinda sounds like you may have a vaccumm leak.

Just adjust your throttle cable like Ultra said. It will cause to over rev if too tight.

Bahhh I found the problem .. I = Moron .. The vavle is sticking like a mo fo .. as in the butterfly .. I put it back to normal started the car everything was good. But if i pull on the throttle cable it sticks .. it i tap it gently it goes back. So by adjusting the cable is should resolve this right?

UltraTibby Mar 16, 2005 09:43 AM

Exactly. If the cable is too tight it will cause the butterfly to stick. I would adjust that and get the rev from sticking then work on adjusting the idle.
