Default Battery Removal Question

Ok, my AOS CAI will be here probably Tuesday or Wednesday, and I was just looking around under my hood. I know I will have to take the battery out to install the CAI, but how do I take the positive red cap off? I don't want to mess anything up, since my stereo power is hooked up under the red cap. I have hardly any under hood experience. I did a search and came up with nothing. Can anybody help me out? Thanks.

most of the time all it requires is a wrench. make sure the car is off. take off the positive. you can wrap a sock around it to make sure it doesnt touch an metal. then take off the ground. and do the same w/ sock. it should pull right out, unless there is a bar that is over it, but it should come right out.

I thought you take the positive off first when removing a battery and install the positive last when installing a battery?
So,
take the negative off THEN the positve when removing battery, right. What order is it when I put the battery back in? Thanks again guys.

Our cars are what are known as a negative ground system. There for if your positive cables touch any metal peice in the body your gona short out. So take the negative off first to kill the current through the body. Also please don't try the sock thing, if you do short out the arc will pass through the sock and possiblly ignite it causing an instant fire.

i wasnt trying to say that you could lay the positive on the metal. and the sock thing does work. if you take the power off, and its not touching anything, there is no way to directly hurt yourself unless you are stupid. if there is no power running to it, then there is no danger, right. that is why alot of places, when they run wires to switches, put the switch on the positive wire. but that will make anything wear out faster. in that kind of situation it is best to run it off the negative. but i am rambling.

correct it is good to take off the negative first. let me tell ya though. i have always taken off the positive first. dont ask me why, but i have never had any problems with doing it that way.

might be the fact that i was an electrician for a while. no wonder i always got shocked, hmm. guess i kinda like it. anyone else know what its like to get hit with over 400 volts of electricity, besides me???

Wow, all this talk about shorting my car out is scaring me now. Ok, so I take the negative off first, then positive. Make sure that the positive terminal does not touch any metal on the car. I think I have that now. BUT, How do I hook the battery back up? Which order? Thanks.
