I was changing my oil today and i noticed that there is this yellow sludge built up where you fill the oil. Is this normal or is something going wrong here? I never noticed it before and i change my oil every 2500-3k with mobil1 and i seafoam it every other change.

I believe it comes from moisture, and as far as I know it's no big deal... clean it off.

I'm pretty sure thats just due to moisture, especially if you dont see it in the oil that was acually drained out of the car. My Supra used to do the same thing once it got colder out

It happens when you make alot of short trips, when the car is'nt fully warmed up.

Don't waste your money on Seafoam. Just change your oil every 3000-7500 miles with a Hyundai Geniune Filter and you'll be happy.

well i dont think it is coolant. ill check tomorrow. It was only on the filler cap and valve cover: nothing on the dipstick or in the oil. As for the filter...i'm crazy about maintenance...i use a 2 micron filter

Ive got the same prob, but I`m afraid its something much worse than moisture. Ive allso got the "milkshake" on the dipstick and my coolant level has been low. So Im guessing its the head gasket sad.gif But, I live in iowa and its freakin cold so it could be moisture. And my upper radiator hose was a little loose on the block, sooo am i out of the clear or should i start worrying??

sorry to say but now that sounds like a head gasket ^^^^..

for the milkshake to be on the dipstick thats when you usually start to worry.. if its on the filler cap thats pretty much an OK thing, but when its on the dipstick that usually means there it oil/coolant mix.

IJS?BTEDDWU, looks like your fine tho.. lol

If you got yellow sludge on your dipstick you better go get that checked by a doctor!!! lmao.gif
No really if you have the yellow mixture on your dipstick I would really look into it a bit further could be a few thing's most likely your head gasket.
