Automatic To Manual
i think there is a DIY on this...
but you need everything, flywheel, clutch set, tranny, all the hydrolics, clutch pedal, shift linkage, shifer and probally a bunch of other stuff
can cost anywhere from like 500 dollars and up, depends how patient you are

Yup, several members have done it, there are several writeups on it in all the different Hyundai forums.
Costs range from between 500 to 1000 dollars.
Everyone loves it.

Personally, I wouldn't, but hell, you could get a swap for under $700 if you do your homework. There has been almost 100% satisfaction with doing the swap. I'm sure this'll put the 'sport' back in sports coupe for you.
Josh,
One of the things to think about that gets overlooked often is time. Its really the only reason I haven't switched mine out because I need my car everyday to go back and forth from work, etc...
If your tib is your only mode of transporation it'll be a bit hard for you in the rest of your daily chores. But if you got a Porche or another vehicle to get you thru while your doing the project, go for it.

Its just something im looking into to doing later on down that road, cause id much rather drvie a manual than a automatic, my first car i ever got was a manual and i would have looked around for a manual tib before i bought this one but damn i got this car for 3g's with on 68k miles so i wasn't gonnna pass it up lol, thanks for all the feedback i really appreciate it thanks

Does anyone know if the mounts are the same for the auto and manual on the axle? Other than that bit of info I think I have everything covered. I say go for it if you want to. I'm doing it b/c now I have another car to be my daily driver. And I'm tired of my stupid auto tranny problems.

Why wouldn't you? Oh, you've never driven a Manual Tib have you?

LoL, nice try, Redz, but you're wrong about that! Yes I have, my friends buddy let me take his for a spin almost a week ago. Why would I be saying something about the manual being more 'sporty' if I have never driven one? I'm set in my ways with the auto (because I own one:wink
and have defended it left and right.OBT97, I'm telling you, if you can find the swap for a decent price like some of the other members have found, then don't hesitate to do it, man! No one has disapproved of the swap that I know of! While everybody on this board shuns at the auto tranny, it'd be nice if someone took on a different route and proved them wrong one fine day (someday nana.gif )
