I have a 99 tiburon base with a auto transmission. The pulse modulator keeps going bad and has finnaly fried the torque coverter clutch. I am sick of wasting money on this junk auto trans. I have found a wrecked 97 fx with a manual trans. I am 99% sure everything will swap over. I know I am going to have to change the ecm and engine wiring harness. Does anyone know if the ecm will have to be reprogramed to my car or will it just plug in and go? Also my car does not have cruise control. Since I am replacing the wiring harness in the engine anyway do you think I will have a hard time swapping over the switch, module, and dash wiring harness?Has anyone attempted to do anything like this? Or has anyone just swaped a ecm from one car to another and had problems? If anyone has any advice let me know.
And getting rid of this car is not a option. Still owe more than the trade in value, or resale value. The car is flawless besides constant auto trans problems. |
Search for auto to manual swap... this has been discussed and beaten to death. More than a few of our members have done it.

Do the search as suggested. It's much simpler than you think.
You don't need to replace the wiring harness, simply unplug/remove the TCM and route 12V+ to one ecu wire. |
Ok I found the other topics that says how to swap it. It seems simple enough. this is my wifes car I am doing the swap in. Still thinking I might swap out the ecm and harness so I can throw the cruise in her car. I am tired of hearing her complain cause all my cars have cruise and she drives 50 miles a day and dont have cruise. Unless I find that the cruise wiring is in a seperate harness from the engine. I can pull out everything but the engine for 500 so i am hooking her car up as much as I can. Thanks to all who replied.

did you check the DIY forum?
we had someone make a DIY. |
well, best thing in the world is to have both cars sitting in the same place. Makes it MUCH easier to do the swap and you have easy access to all the parts.
