air temp sensor

Default air temp sensor

i noticed that when everyone is putting on a CAI they have to put the air temp sensor back in the intake i have a 2k2 spectra nad put a CAI on it but i didnt have a air temp sensor? is it possibly in the air flow sensor as a combo setup?

that's possible. The real reason for the temp sensor is to tell a hot-wire MAFS how much voltage to apply to maintain a "zero" reading (basically an idle reading). The closer they are, the better.

In a MAP car, I'm not sure how the signal is used, but your hypothesis is pretty sound. I'm sure you would have noticed a temp sensor while removing the stock intake box and filter. It's hard to miss.

hopefully Red, Random, or one of the other engine experts will chime in to correct me.

If your car is MAP based instead of MAF you don't have or need an air intake temp sensor.

Item #14 is the IAT sensor
Item #3 is the MAF

in all actuallity on my car #14 doesnt exist..i looked at the air box and i can see where it should go but it was plugged up...??? so is it map then? #12 doesnt exist either the connector between the TB and air sensor is solid with a resonator at the bottom? could this be because my car is autotragic?
