4-1 Race Headers vs. 4-2-1 in torque
I just had a conversation with RPW about 4-1 race headers. The primary pipe they use is 32 inches long (compared to around 24 for normal 4-1's) before they combine and they claim higher torque gains compared to a 4-2-1 design.
I'm wondering though, what is the length for the SR 4-1 headers and what is the total length of the "4-2" part of the pipe on the 4-2-1 headers?

Actually, this hasn't really been covered. I know the difference between 4-2-1 and 4-1 headers in general. The first has better mid range power and the latter has better top end power.
I also understand that the longer the primary runners are, the lower in the rpm range the power is created. I assume that the 4-2 part of a 4-2-1 acts as a really long primary runner. That's why it makes midrange power. But there are 3 junctions instead of 1 with a 4-1 header and I'm not sure what that does to flow.

wow 2 people have made me proud today
Your question exceeds my knowledge,... ill let the heavyweights tackle this one
As far as the race headers,... your right
it hasnt been discussed in dept before. From what i know, i dont think anybody on this board has purchased the SR RACE headers
Good luck, and i hope you get a response to your question.

I have the RPW 4-1 headers, but I haven't had them installed yet. Can't say they are pretty, but we will see. The welding aint the hottest either, a little crooked on the outlet. I only have the headers, no flex pipe or cat...so I will have to get them custom installed, and its gonna be a little over $120...
Okay to clarify - all previous RPW headers up to January 2002 for a Hyundai were HVe headers.
We have not sold any of these since and here after all RPW headers are truly our own headers. We no longer market Hve headers because of our race design series which are a superioer 4-1 due to the longer length to promote more torque and improved top end.
All come with a 2 1/2" merge collector and 2 1/2" flex pipe supplied in the kit with optional 2 1/2" high flow cat converter.
Feel free to ask any quesitons.

so a good question would be.....what about the first cat that is right off the exhaust manifold..or are these headers for racetrack apps?
and i guess another good ? would be would they bolt up to a cat back system that somebody might already have installed?
